About Us
Our organization was founded in 2005. We fund DMHS teachers and administrators to create and implement new academic activities that the school district cannot fund. Our grants are awarded on a rolling basis in amounts up to $1,500. Since our first grant in 2009, we have awarded 34 grants totaling $43,647. We are most interested in supporting novel activities to lead DM students' minds in new directions, but we also support ongoing activities with no other source of funding.
We have raised our funds to date via entertainment events, direct-mail campaigns, website donations, and via t-shirt sales, 50/50s and cash donations at our annual picnic and alumni basketball game and at class reunions. Our Board of Directors is neither paid nor reimbursed for their expenses incurred. Our operating overhead is therefore less than 5 percent of our budget. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Our Board of Directors meetings are open to all alumni. We typically meet on the third Saturday of each month at 10 AM in the Panera Bread on Rt. 4 East in Englewood. Please check this site's News and Events page for the date of the next meeting.
We have no formal system of membership and all alumni are welcome at our meetings to contribute their ideas and energy. We hope to recruit additional Board members from a variety of class years and we welcome volunteers who may be able to devote only limited time. See our Contact or Volunteer page.
