2020 Thanksgiving DJ Party Fundraiser
The DMHSAEA held its first-ever Thanksgiving fundraiser from 1:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 28. DJ Chok provided musical entertainment. Thanks go to Board member Andrea Morrisey for leading the organizational effort and to DJ Chok, a DMHS alumnus himself, for the very kind discount.
Donation for Class of 2020 Lawn Signs
DMHSAEA Board member Scott Reddin has made a generous donation toward the purchase of 600 lawn signs congratulating this year's graduating class. The signs are being distributed city-wide. The gift was matched 1:1 by a contribution from the DMHSAEA.
We all thank Scott for his thoughtfulness on behalf of our newest alumni in what has been a very challenging final four months of their high school careers.

DMHSAEA Receives Transformational Philanthropic Gift
Gerry Schwartz (left) of the Class of 1973 has donated $250,000 to the DMHSAEA to form a permanent endowment. Its investment income will provide a permanent source of funds for part of our mission program. Gerry was the founder and until his retirement last year, CEO of The TEAM Companies in Los Angeles. In the photo above, Gerry receives an Alumni Recognition Award at the annual DMHSAEA Alumni Barbecue on June 23, 2018. Presenting the award is Bruce Harper, Gerry's DMHS classmate, DMHSAEA volunteer and former NY Jets star.
Major Donation Supports Classical Music
An anonymous donor has created a special $20,000 fund dedicated to enhancing the experience of DMHS students in classical music. The fund will be used to purchase student tickets to two New Jersey Symphony Orchestra concerts each year at the John Harms Theater in Englewood and to provide a private seminar from one of the orchestra's musicians for the students on the music to be performed that evening.
There is no limit to the number of students who may attend each concert. The donor stipulated that the fund be named The Cynthia and Al Golbe Endowment after friends of the donor who supported music and art in Englewood for many years.
DMHSAEA Raises Grant Maximum
The DMHSAEA Board voted in October 2019 to raise the maximum amount available as a single grant to $2,000. We thank our generous donors for making this possible. We hope this will allow DMHS teachers and administrators to create even more ambitious projects in support of our mission to enhance the quality of academic offerings at DMHS.
Our Second Web Address
This Website is now accessible via a new URL: www.dmhsalumni.org.
The existing URL, www.dmhsaea.org, still works but we felt we needed another option that's more intuitive and easier to remember. (Careful: Another site, www.dmhsalumni.com, is operated by alumni of Daniel Murphy High School in Los Angeles.)
Our Next Board Meeting
Until the pandemic abates, our Board meetings are being held by telephone conference call. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Our meetings start at 10:00 AM, but the Board prefers to reserve the first hour for administrative business and welcomes any visitors at 11:00. For dial-in formation, please email Larry Golbe at golbe@rutgers.edu.
