Reunion and Mentoring Conference

The "DMAE Alumni Network" is led by retired DMHS teacher Judy Aronson.  The organization is hosting TWO events we hope you'll join us for.

1. A Pre-Thanksgiving All-Class Reunion at Ryan's Daughter, a pub in NYC, on Thursday, November 20 at Ryan's Daughter, 350 E. 85th St. at 7 PM.

2. EmpowerED Conference at DMHS - We are seeking speakers to mentor and inspire! Come to the high school Tuesday, November 25 to share your "life after high school" story with our students, so they too can find success and fulfillment. You can speak to classes on your own or with others. Speakers can be alumni or not. Register here: WORKSHOP Life After High School . OUR STUDENTS NEED TO MEET YOU.

Our Annual BBQ/Fundraiser

The DMHSAEA's annual Alumni Barbecue and Fundraiser took place on Saturday, June 21, 2025 in the new and expanded DMHS cafeteria and adjacent grounds.  About 300 attendees from all class years enjoyed the free food and drink, the DJ, a live performance by the DMHS Drum Line, and the free photo booth.  A ceremony honored members of the New Jersey State 1975 Championship basketball team on the 50th Anniversary of their achievement.  The team was led by Bill Willoughby, one of the first players drafted directly from high school to the NBA, where he played for eight years.  He is shown above as a member of the Houston Rockets, his team from 1980 to 1982.

NJ Symphony and DMHS Musicians Rehearse Together

Picture
At the New Jersey Symphony / DMHS co-rehearsal on May 2, 2024 were from left, DMHS Music Director Dr. Gary Hollander, DMHSAEA Board Member Marsha Campbell-Young, NJS Conducting Fellow Jessica Altarriba, and DMHSAEA Board members Bethany and Jonathan Rabinowitz
The New Jersey Symphony came to the Dizzy Gillespie Auditorium at DMHS on May 2, 2024 to perform two pieces along with 60 DMHS student musicians sitting among them, followed by the NJS and DMHS musicians together rehearsing pieces selected by our Music Director, Dr. Gary Hollander.  The rehearsal was conducted by the NJS conducting fellow, Jessica Altarriba.  The DMHSAEA supported the event with a grant from our DMHS Concert Fund, endowed by an anonymous donor in 2017.  That fund has now allowed DMHS students to attend six NJS performances, of which three have been on campus, and one trip into NYC to the Metropolitan Opera.

Our Next Board Meeting

Most of our Board meetings are held by Zoom on one Saturday each month from 10 AM to 12 noon.  The next meeting will be on November 15, 2025, when we will meet in person to prepare our mailed Holiday fundraising drive.  Our next meeting by Zoom will be in December.  Our Board reserves the first hour for administrative business and welcomes alumni as guests at 11:00.  For the Zoom link and to confirm the scheduled date, please email DMHSAEA President Larry Golbe at [email protected].
